Rowing

I started rowing in the early 1990s at the Montreal Rowing Club, located at the olympic basin on Notre-Dame Island.  I got the bug right away and rowed until I was sidelined by a very stupidly self-inflicted back injury in 1997.

I started rowing again in 2015 when i purchased a used single.  I row on Fairfield Pond, which about 3km long.

It’s a great year when i can overlap rowing and skiing seasons ! I’ve had a few days where I’d row in the morning and then head up to the mountain for spring skiing.  This past fall, i did get my first day of skiing while i was still rowing.

Rowing is the most zen of all sports
I built myself a nice boat house this summer – after a falling tree almost crushed my boat !

John cut trees on our land, and used his sawmill to make the lumber. We only had to buy the sheet metal roofing and some fasteners !

I designed my boathouse to fit the site very tightly. It is 32ft long x 8ft wide.
My rowing shell is 27ft long with 10″ beam (width)
